ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Named in honor of Audre Lorde, Praise the Lorde is more than an artist residency—it is an invitation to step into the forest, to create without pretense, to be held by nature while exploring the depths of artistic expression. Here, art and self-care are equally sacred.

This residency offers artists1 – 2 of solitude and exchange, a space where creation is not rushed but allowed to unfold.

The land itself is part of the process. The stillness, the vastness, the way the trees listen—these elements can shape the work in unexpected ways. We are eager to witness what each artist produces, but even more so, we are interested in what emerges when one surrenders to the forest, when art is made from a place of deep listening and presence.
