A Cabin for the Creative Life
There are seasons in life when you need quiet. Not silence exactly, but a different kind of sound. Water moving over rock. Wind shifting through trees. Your own thoughts returning to you, finally unhurried.
This is an invitation to spend time inside that kind of season. From May 11 through August 31, I am opening my cabin in the Chattahoochee National Forest to writers, artists, thinkers, and creatives of all kinds who are looking for space to work, to rest, to begin again, or to simply listen.
The cabin sits on half an acre tucked along a rushing creek that feels more like a small river. Constant, alive, and grounding. The sound of it becomes part of your body after a while. It’s the kind of place where time loosens.
You are just a few miles from the beginning (or end) of the Appalachian Trail, depending on how you like to think about things.
All spaces on the property are yours to inhabit:
- The Artist Bedroom: A full bed, simple and comfortable, for deep sleep after long days of making or wandering.
- The Loft: A quiet, open space for meditation, writing, stretching, or staring at nothing until something arrives.
- Two Decks:
- One for stargazing, jasmine-scented nights (while the jasmine’s around), and slow conversations with yourself or a friend or the host.
- One for movement. Dance, yoga, or whatever your body needs to remember.
- The Creek: Always there. Fish pass through regularly, and if you eat fish, you’re welcome to catch your own dinner.
The land invites you to use it. Fully.
While you may find you don’t want to leave, the wider landscape offers its own kind of inspiration:
- Waterfalls and canyon views
- Mountain summits and quiet trails
- Small towns with unexpected charm
- Vineyards, orchards, and winding scenic roads
You’re:
- 15 minutes from Lake Trahlyta in Vogle State Park
- 20 minutes from Cleveland, the nearest town (grocery stores, post office, library, restaurants, etc.)
- About 1.5 hours from Atlanta (without traffic)
- Fast, dependable wifi
- Fully stocked kitchen
- Smart TV
- Heat & AC
- Wood-burning stove
- 1 Week: $500
- 2 Weeks: $900
- Longer or shorter stays available upon request
The Rhythm
This is not a retreat with a schedule. It is not structured, curated, or programmed. It is simply a place held open for you.
I will be in and out throughout the summer. If our time overlaps, I’d love to share a meal, a walk, or show you some of what makes this part of Georgia so special. If not, the space is yours to shape.
The Invitation
This space is for those who are working on something (or trying to begin). Those who crave solitude, but not isolation. Those who want to reconnect with their creative practice. Those whoFeel called to the woods
Must love the woods. This is not a metaphor.
Questions You Probably Have
I will be in and out throughout the summer. My room will be the only one not for use by the artist. If our time overlaps, we may share the space. If it doesn’t, you’ll have full solitude. Either way, you will have privacy and room to be.
You’re tucked into the Chattahoochee National Forest, about 17 minutes from the nearest town and 15 minutes from a lake. It’s peaceful, but not completely off-grid. There are neighbors just across the rushing creek.
Yes. A car is strongly recommended to access the cabin and explore the surrounding areas.
Comfortable clothing, your favorite toiletries, anything specific to your creative practice, and anything that helps you feel at home. A good book doesn’t hurt either.
Yes, if you are comfortable sharing the Artist Room and as long as they are more supportive than distracting. Price will be an additional $300.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
Smoking is allowed outside.
That is more than allowed. Rest is part of the work.
Because it’s built on the mountain, there are stairs required to access the cabin and outdoor features.
Want to Come to the Chattahoochee National Forest?
Send a short note about who you are, what you’re working on (or hoping to explore), and what draws you to this space. Or select a time on my calendar to ask any questions you may have. There is no need for formality here. Just honesty.
